Brantley routs Lady Squadron 17-0

Thursday afternoon, the Lady Squadron traveled to Brantley High School for an area game against the Lady Dogs. Falling to them, BHS won, 17-0.
The Lady Squadron competed in the Trojan Classic tournament for the 3rd year in a row this past weekend. They played Carroll High School, Goshen High School, and Eufaula High School. All ending in losses, Highland Home went home after the first round of pool play.
Yet, Monday night the Red Level Tigers traveled to Highland Home to compete for a non area game. The Lady Squadron had a victory over the Lady Tigers, 13-3. Senior Katelyn Sport pitched completed the game with 7 strikeouts.
The Lady Squadron will travel to Greenville High School to compete against the Lady Tigers Thursday afternoon at 4 pm.
Highland Home was supposed to host a game against the Georgiana Panthers Tuesday afternoon, but was rescheduled due to weather conditions.The Highland Home baseball team traveled to Goshen High School to compete Thursday afternoon against the Eagles.
Senior Chase Mansmann opened and closed out the game all five innings with 2 hits, 9 strikeouts, and 0 earned runs.
“We played good both, offensively and defensively, but we always have room to improve.” said Mansmann
Seniors Nathan Scoggins and Clay Hobbs, and sophomore Noah Phillips all went 2-4.
Scoggins and N. Phillips had two RBI’s and Hobbs had 3 RBI’s.
Cody Brown, Chase Mansmann, Daniel Phillips, Kyler Weeks, and Moe Mosely each had 1 RBI.
Friday night, The Squadron hosted a game against Verbena High School winning 6-2. Sophomore Noah Phillips opened up the game with 3 hits, 9 strikeouts and 0 earned runs. Weeks closed up the game with 1 inning.
Weeks and D. Phillips went 1-2 and both had 2 RBI’s. N. Phillips and junior Cason Brightwell went 1-3 with 1 RBI. Mansmann went 2-2 with a double.
In the top of the third, HHS was tied with VHS 2-2 and Weeks hit a single and brought Mansmann and Brightwell in, making the score 4-2.
The HHS baseball team traveled to Red Level High School and beat the RL Tigers, 20-4.
Highland Home will host a Crenshaw County tournament this weekend.
