Robert Joseph Vanderbye

Robert Joseph Vanderbye, 69, a resident of Greenville, Ala., and a former resident of Cowarts, Ala., died on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016.  Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 in the chapel of Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home with Minister Angie Long officiating and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

Mr. Vanderbye married Laura Kathryn Munro on July 15, 1967 in Chicago, Ill.  He proudly served the U.S. Navy Submarine Fleet for 13 years before beginning his career in nuclear power.  He retired from Farley after 28 years.  After retiring he enjoyed woodworking and teaching his daughters, grandchildren, and students how to turn pens.

Mr. Vanderbye was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. and Phoebe Vanderbye; and his brother, Raymond Vanderbye.   He is survived by his wife, Kay Vanderbye; daughters, Cheri Vanderbye and Patti Haataja (John); grandchildren, Allison, Ryan Riley and Zachary Haataja; sister, Phoebe Latz; and many nieces and nephews.
