Michael Randolph Norman

Michael Randolph Norman, 64, a resident of Greenville, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016.  Born March 29, 1954 in Greenville, Ala., he was the son of Mrs. Dorothy White Norman and the late Mr. Joseph Reynard  Norman Sr.

Mike was a lifelong golfer, and he loved spending time on the course with his family and friends. He was enamored with his granddaughters and always had an uplifting attitude or story that was usually finished around the dinner table.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie Hardin Norman of Greenville, Ala.; children, Bradford Norman Bankhead (John) of Birmingham, Ala., Samuel Joseph Norman of Columbus, Ga., Marianne Alverson Gilchrist (John) of Birmingham, Ala., Virginia Lee Alverson of Nashville, Tenn., and Frank Martin Alverson Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; granddaughters, Tallulah Bradford Bankhead, Carolyn Hollis Bankhead and Marianne Barganier Gilchrist, all of Birmingham, Ala.; mother, Dorothy “Dot” White Norman of Greenville, Ala.; brothers, Joseph“Joby” Reynard Norman Jr.  (Brenda), Stephen “Steve” Keith Norman  (Robin) and Todd Eugene Norman (Ginger), all of Greenville, Ala., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Katie.

A memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016,  11 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Reid McCormick officiating . Honorary Pallbearers are Morley Alexander,  Frankie Garrison,  Bill Hardin, Richard Hartley, Jim McGowin, Doug McLaulin, Payne Meadows  and Howard Meadows.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
