The Highland Home School volleyball team is 8-2 in season, and 3-1 in the area. After a very intense and nail biting game, the Flying Squadron came up short Tuesday afternoon against Brantley.
Junior, Jala Merriweather had six spikes during the third game and senior Allera June had eight assists.
The area tournament is approaching them and they are working to get back on top. Coach Avant comments on the area tournament saying, “I feel positive going into the area tournament here in a few weeks. We are preparing for it daily and improving with every game and practice.”
After a tough loss against Brantley, Avant and the team still kept their heads high with a positive attitude.
“We need to improve more on blocking and kills. We can’t win a game off only six kills. We will work on our rotation routine and setting the ball up better. During the Brantley game several girls got injured and some were sick, but that’s no excuse. We most certainly had an off day.”
The Flying Squadron had their next area game in Red Level Thursday.
