Super Foods Supermarkets is one of 41 retailers up for the honor of Alabama Retailer of the Year.

Super Foods Supermarkets operates Super Foods of Greenville and Food Depot of Luverne and Evergreen.

Super Foods of Greenville is part of Big Bear of Luverne, Inc., a family owned supermarket company, which has been in business these past 45 years, beginning with the first store in Luverne in 1971 and recently adding the Food Depot of Evergreen in 2014.

The Retailer of the Year award is presented by the Alabama Retail Association in partnership with the UAB Collat School of Business.

Businesses were chosen by a panel of representatives with positions in the Alabama media, the local chambers of commerce, retail developers and former Alabama Retailer of the Year winners.

The top vote-getter will receive the Customer’s Choice Award during the Oct. 18 Alabama Retail Day celebration.

Results will be announced on that date.

Voting is open now through July 24 at alabamaretail.org.

There is a limited of one vote per person.

Other area businesses up for the award include Andalusia’s David’s Catfish House, Clanton’s Peach Park and Montgomery’s Fleet Feet Sports.
