Tabytha Holland Armstrong
Tabytha Holland Armstrong, age 34 of Montgomery, died Monday, July 11 at her home. Tabytha had just completed her degree as a registered nurse at Troy University. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Tabytha Holland Armstrong Scholarship Fund at the School of Nursing, Troy University, C/O First Citizens Bank of Luverne, 100 W. 3rd Street, Luverne, Al. 36049. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 16 at 2 p.m. at the South Luverne Baptist Church with Dr. Sam Tate officiating. Visitation was at the church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. that Saturday. Her survivors include: her husband, David Armstrong; her parents, Allen and Rene Holland; her sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Joseph Rose; niece, Amaris Rose; niece, Lilith Tabytha Rose; grandfather, George Barrineau; mother-in-law, Lynnett Armstrong; father-in-law, Dr. Robert Jean Armstrong (Kayleen); brothers and sister-in-law, Mathew Michael and Heidimarie Armstrong, Richard Eric and Kathleen Armstrong; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Michael Wayne Norris
Michael Wayne Norris, 56, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Friday, July 15. Funeral services for Mr. Norris were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, at Salem Church of Christ with Rev. Dunford Cole officiating. Interment followed in Salem Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mike is lovingly remembered as a tender-hearted man with a heart of gold who possessed great compassion for everyone. He knew his faults, but his noble qualities surpassed them all. Mike was the same person every time he met you, no matter how long it had been since you last encountered him. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Fulton Norris. He is survived by his mother, Vivian Thomas Norris, who was his constant ray of light and caregiver. He is also survived by his brother, Tommy Norris (to whom he was very close); sister, Sandra (John) Kilpatrick; two children, Jamie (David) Finlayson and Eric Bagents; grandson, River Finlayson; two nieces, Nikki K. (Christopher) Hilburn and Emily Norris; three nephews, Chad Kilpatrick, Clint Norris and Trent Norris; great-niece, Natalee Jane Hilburn (who he lovingly referred to as his Nat Nat); and great nephew, John Allen Hilburn. Mike’s devoted rat terrier, Allie, is lost without him, but she brought much comfort and many smiles to him, as she was always by his side. Active pallbearers were Chad Kilpatrick, Clint Norris, Trent Norris, John Kilpatrick, Christopher Hilburn and Claude Cook.
