Alberta Powell

Funeral services for Mrs. Alberta Powell were held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. from New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Gary D. Reed officiated. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville directed.
Mrs. Alberta Powell was born on Dec. 2, 1950 in Greenville to the late Roberta Murphy and Matthew Jenkins. She was married to the late Mr. Winford Morris and Mr. Sam Powell, who both preceded her in death.
She confessed to a life of Christ as an adolescent, joining Indian Hill Methodist Church. Later in her life she joined New Hope Baptist Church until her health would no longer permit her to attend. God truly gained an angel when he called her home July 9, 2016 at 8:48 in Montgomery at Woodley Manor.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Dorzell Marsh, Ruby Turner and Helen Kate Jenkins; and two brothers, Julius Jenkins and John Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her five devoted children, Willie James Morris (Dianne), Anthony Eugene Morris (Jeanette), Antonio Morris and Samantha Crenshaw, all of Greenville, and Benitta Denise Morris (Willie) of Montgomery, Ala. She leaves to cherish her memories four sisters, Willie Pearl Alldredge of Lake Wale, Fla., Claudia Scarver, Greenville, Lillie Mae Brown Port Charlotte, Fla., Ruthie Jenkins, of Lake Wale, Fla.; and two brothers, Carl Jenkins and James Jenkins, both of Greenville, Ala. She leaves behind 12 grandkids, whom she loved dearly: Layla Smith, Armieyah Morris, Jamiyah Davison, Antroine Feagin, Laquesha Hawkins, Anthony Boone, Jamorrica Peagler, Johniquia Canaty, Mercades Eford, Aryone Eford, Lajavon Smith, Tanesha Baugh and a host of nieces, cousins, and friends, including a very special friend, Lisa Knight of Chapman, Ala.
