Marion Byrd Shirley:

Marion Byrd Shirley, 97, formerly of Glenwood, Ala., passed away peacefully on April 12 at The Manor at Bluewater Bay in Niceville. Marion raised her three daughters while working at Glenwood Mercantile Company for many years before retiring at the age of 48. Throughout the years, she continued to bless her family while she lived with each daughter and helped care for her grandchildren. Marion lived a long, healthy and happy life as she moved around the country to be with her daughters’ families. She received exceptional care during her final years of life at The Manor and spoke fondly of all of the nurses and CNAs, many of whom she considered family. Marion passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Marion is survived by daughter Annette Shirley Milton of Riesel, TX; son-in-law E.P. Lacy III of Gantt, Ala.; daughter Sherry Shirley Vest and husband Jim of Miramar Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by daughter Sandra Shirley Lacy, son-in-law Furman Milton and grandson Jay Milton. A family memorial service will be held in Goshen, AL at a later date.

Arnold Lee Mount:

Arnold Lee Mount, 50, a resident of Luverne, Ala., passed away on Tuesday, May 17. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Louise Bolling Mount, and four brothers, Jerry Mount, Kenny Mount, Bobby Mount and Junior Mount. Mount is survived by two children, Nicole (Bo) Jordan and Caleub (Ericka) Mount; two grandchildren, Greysen and Piper Mount; two sisters, Sue Acreman and Nita McGough; and two brothers, Allen Mount and Jimmy Mount. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later time.

Mary Helen Wolfe:

Mary Helen Wolfe, 64, a resident of Dozier, Ala., passed away on Thursday, May 19. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, from the chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Interment followed in Rutledge Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Wolfe was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Brandon Joe Bass and Brittany Danielle McCormick; her parents, Vernon and Cuba Dean Wicker DeFee; and three brothers, Joe DeFee, Dale DeFee and Doug DeFee. She is survived by her husband, Aubrey Wolfe; three sons, Douglas (Sherry) Furr, Chris (Freda) Furr and Bobby (Renee) Bass; nine grandchildren, Courtney McCormick, Shaun Bolding, Kelsey Furr, Tyler Furr, Sarah (Adam) Garrett, Asa Furr, Vicky Bass, Kimberly Bass and Lexy Bass; two great-grandchildren, Addalynn Grace and Alexa; and brother, Jimmy (Alice) DeFee. Active pallbearers were Gary DeFee, Michael DeFee, Jonathan DeFee, Greg Walker, John Joyner and Carlos Dean.

Roy Thomas Carter, III:

Roy Thomas Carter, III, 62, a resident of Montgomery, Ala., passed away on Thursday, May 19. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at New Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Horn officiating. Interment followed in New Ebenezer Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Carter was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Carter, and his mother, Joyce Martin Carter Beasley. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Jordan Carter; three children, Amy Lauren (Robert) Fisher, Matthew Thomas Carter and Jennifer Lynn (Jared) Dilly; and three grandchildren, Madeline Faye Carter, Austin James Fisher and Logan Jack Dilly. Active pallbearers were Robert Brandon Fisher, Jared Dilly, James Jordan, Robert Carter, Jr., Tracy Sanders and Nick Doss.
