Margaret McQueen Carroll:
Margaret McQueen Carroll, 98, a resident of Luverne, Ala., and formerly of Brantley, Ala., passed away on Monday, May 2. A graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Rev. Harry Driggers officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Carroll was born on January 18, 1918 in Luverne, and she married M.L. Carroll, Sr. on June 21, 1941. She graduated from Luverne High School, and was a lifelong fan of Auburn University. Margaret was a substitute teacher for Brantley School, as well as being the town librarian and organist at Brantley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Peyton and Ida Mae Moody McQueen; two brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean (Jim) Oakley of Columbia, SC; son, Max L. Carroll, Jr. of Kingsport, TN; two granddaughters, Kim (Philip) Case and Julie Oakley all of South Carolina; grandson, Brad (Jessi) Carroll of Atlanta, GA; four great-grandsons, George Case, Isaac Case and Hunter Fallat, all of Columbia, SC, and Alan Carroll of Atlanta, GA; a niece, Martha Speir of Greenville, Ala.; and several great-nephews. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Brantley Baptist Church.
