Funeral services for Mr. Chester (Curtis) Thagard were held on March 19 at 11 a.m. from Lomax Hannon Auditorium. Rev. Jacoby Thagard officiated. Military burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery.

Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville, Ala., directed. Mr. Chester Curtis Thagard was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Daisy Mae Thagard on March 9, 1959.

He attended Greenville High School where he graduated with the class of 1978. After graduation he later joined and served as  National Guardsmen for six years.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Janice V. Thagard; brother, Jimmy Thagard; loving and devoted friend, Brenda Hamilton; step son, Antwon Hamilton; and sister-in-law, Wanda Thagard.

Curtis was called home on March 14, 2016 at Baptist South in Montgomery, Ala.

He leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories a loving son, Desmond Thagard (Kimberly); three loving and devoted stepchildren, Katrina, Shuntez and Kamerious Hamilton; five sisters, Annie Ruth (Grant) Lee, Pauline Rhodes, Johnnie Mae Stewart, Shirley Thagard; brother, Pongie Earl Thagard; seven step-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including two devoted friends, Curtis Simpson and Walt Hicks.
