A Greenville resident has been named the chief financial officer for the Lowndes County public school system.
Lowndes County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Boyd confirmed Friday that Amy Bray has been appointed to the position, effective March 28. The appointment was made during a special called meeting in Hayneville on Friday.
Bray replaces Bernard Mitchell, who took a position as an accountability officer for Birmingham City Schools, according to Boyd.
“Amy Bray comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience,” Boyd said. “We welcome her to Lowndes County Public Schools, and we feel that she will be a great addition to our school system.”
Bray has previous work experience as an auditor and at one time operated Ah-Ha! Upscale Resale, a consignment shop in downtown Greenville.
“(Mitchell) will be terribly missed, but you understand that people have to move on,” Boyd said.
Bray’s appointment was the only matter to come before the board, which will meet at the Central Office in Hayneville on April 14.
