W.O. Parmer Elementary School is a finalist in Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood “Can Do Good” competition. Can Do Good is a social design-build competition that provides students with hands-on learning and teaches the importance of giving back to the community. The competition was open to kindergarten through 12th grade students in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Students organized canned food drives and designed and built creative structures using the collected items, which were later donated to a local food bank or charitable organization. Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood will match the donation of the winning team from each division, in addition to presenting them with the title of Best Can Do Good Structure in the Southeast and a check for $1,000 to the winners of the K-8 division and 9-12 division.
