Fort Dale Academy extended its winning streak to three games with a 14-0 win over Hooper Academy Friday night in Hope Hull.
With the win, the Eagles improved to 4-2 and picked up their first region victory of the season.
The Colts fell to 0-6.
The shutout was the first for the Eagles since Oct. 5, 2012 when they blanked Pike Liberal Arts School 38-0 in Troy.
Fort Dale’s defensive charge was led by linebacker Clay Mansmann’s 11 tackles. Mansmann also had two sacks and two fumble recoveries in Friday’s victory.
The Eagles got all the scoring they needed midway through the first quarter when quarterback Luke Taylor connected with wide receiver Stephen Hartley for a 61-yard touchdown. Jake Gillem added the point after attempt to give Fort Dale a 7-0 lead.
The Eagles added an insurance score in the fourth quarter after running back Andrew Salter broke free and scampered 42 yards to the Hooper 1-yard line. Taylor punched it in and Gillem again added the point after attempt to cap the scoring.
Taylor finished the game 7-of-15 for 163 yards and a touchdown.
Hartley had two catches for 75 yards and a score, while Austin Vickery hauled in three passes for 42 yards and Caison Elliott snagged one pass for 31 yards.
Salter led Fort Dale’s ground game with 47 yards on three carries.
The Eagles will be back in action next Friday night when they take on Monroe Academy. The game will cap a week of homecoming festivities at Fort Dale. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
