Authorities are urging citizens to be cautious after receiving a report of two unknown individuals entering an elderly woman’s home on Stone Road Drive in Greenville.
“We received a phone call from a third party that someone may have gone to an elderly woman’s residence on Stone Road Drive,” Capt. Justin Lovvorn said. “We located her and she advised us that two black females came to her house and stated to her that they needed to assess her house. One stood at the door and talked with the elderly lady and another walked through the house to look around.”
Lovvorn said the homeowner said the women did not leave the house with anything, and that she has not located anything missing from the home.
Police are still trying to identify the two suspects.
“We have not found anyone that would have gone to her house for any reason,” Lovvorn said.
Lovvorn said residents should contact the Greenville Police Department or Butler County Sheriff’s Department if faced with a similar situation.
“We would recommend that you do not let people in your house that just show up and claim they need to look in your house,” he said. “The best thing to do is ask them to wait outside and then call the police or Sheriff’s Department to check them out and verify who they are and what they are doing. If they work for a legitimate company they will not mind you being cautious.”
