Alice M. Alexander Curtis

Mrs. Alice M. Alexander Curtis, 79, left this life to enter into life eternal with the Lord on April 2, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sat., April 4, 2015 at the Glenwood United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bobby Weeks and Rev. Michael Cobb officiating. Interment followed in Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Active pallbearers were Curtis Glaize, Marty Hanks, Edward Alexander, Ryan Alexander, Ray Filmore, Bill Filmore, William Filmore and Paul Shutes.

Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Herbert Gerald Curtis; her parents, Marion and Grace Alexander, and her brother, Richard Alexander.

Survivers include her daughters, Alecia Curtis Glaize (Ed) of Brewton and Gerri Curtis Shutes (Paul) of John’s Creek, Ga.; four grandchildren Curtis Glaize, Anna Grace Glaize, Katherine Shutes and Sarah Shutes; and a brother, Gary Alexander.

Alice was born, April 9, 1935 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She later lived in Selma and Mobile before moving to Ansley. She graduated from Troy High School in 1953, trained as a lab technician and worked in the medical field for many years.

Alice enjoyed serving with the Crenshaw Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Garden Club of Luverne and at the Glenwood United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Glenwood United Methodist Church or the Crenshaw Community Hospital Auxiliary.

 

Olivia Davis

Olivia Davis, age 94, of Luverne, died Sun., April 5, 2015 in Luverne. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Cliff Cobb and Reverend Dunford Cole officiating. Burial followed in the Green Hills Cemetery, with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. Visitation was held Tuesday at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Survivors include, children, William M. “Billy” and Pat Davis of Luverne, Kay Davis and Whit Goolsby of Luverne; grandchildren, Julie Davis and Bill Goetz of Atlanta, Wes Davis of Luverne, Craig and Sonya Goolsby of Fairhope, Stephanie and Phillip Cornett of Luverne and Casey and Jessica Goolsby of Goshen; great-grandchildren, Will Davis, Wyatt, Olivia and Wade Cornett, Alex and Walt Goolsby and Carter Goolsby; sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Max Roberts of Montgomery.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie R. Davis Jr., and a sister, Frances Martin. Serving as pallbearers were Wes Davis, Casey Goolsby, Craig Goolsby, Bill Goetz, Phillip Cornett and Jake Reddick.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Ground United Methodist Church, 1574 Turkey Creek Road, Luverne, AL. 36049 or to your favorite charity.

 

Judy Vaughan Killough

Mrs. Judy Vaughan Killough, 76, a resident of Rutledge, died Sat., April 04, 2015.

Mrs. Killough was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Lillian Thomas Vaughan and two sisters, Voncille Armijo and Susan Gardner.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Lamon G. Killough; three children, Cheryl (John) Fisher, Lamon Christopher (Janet) Killough, and Marvin Scot Killough; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be scheduled and announced later by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to ones favorite charity.
