Butler County Schools Superintendent Amy Bryan said there are no plans to delay the start time for school tomorrow in the wake of frigid temperatures that are expected to hit this area overnight.
“We’ve been watching it and talking with maintenance to keep the pipes from freezing, and transportation to make sure buses are cranked and ready to be prepared to keep rolling,” Bryan said.
Temperatures are going to dip to around 16 degrees tonight, according to the Mobile Weather Service. The wind chill will vary between 10 and 15 degrees. The high tomorrow is going to be near 36.
Most school systems in the northern part of the state have delayed the start time because of the cold weather, which produced snow flurries.
Bryan added that bus drivers will also be aware of any students who need to have extra time to get from their house to the bus.
“We’re all ready to go right now without any delay,” Bryan said.
