Kiwanis, Safe Harbor give children a Merry Christmas

Christmas came early Tuesday to Safe Harbor for the Greenville Kiwanis Club’s annual Christmas party. Kiwanis, in conjunction with Safe Harbor, brought a dozen children and families together for refreshments catered by Nanny’s Fine Dining and a surprise visit from Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, and the Christmas Elf.
Children took their turn visiting with Mrs. Claus and sharing their Christmas wish list. Once they ate and visited with Mrs. Claus, Santa’s special little helpers were waiting to hand the children a bag full of presents.
“It is so nice to see that a civic club is still in the business of giving,” said director of Safe Harbor, Kathy Smyth. “It really is keeping with Kiwanis Club’s mission to assist children in our community. This gift means so much to underprivileged families at this time of the year. It brings joy to a family that is struggling or to a person that needs an extra measure of kindness. It’s the thought and kindness that counts.”
Kiwanis provided the program with $1,000 donation to assist with the presents, clothes and many other items included in their gift bags.
