A three-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Dozier man and injured two others Sunday afternoon. The crash happened on U.S. 29 at the 61.1 mile marker, one mile south of Dozier., at 1:40 p.m., according to Alabama State Trooper Kevin Cook.
Willie Ray Slawson, 81, was killed when the 1996 Ford Taurus he was driving collided with a 2010 Hyundai Sonata driven by Sandra Kaye Moody, 67, of Dozier. After colliding with Moody’s vehicle, Slawson’s Taurus struck a 1998 Dodge Ram driven by 47-year-old Michael Luciano of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Slawson, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Crenshaw County Coroner Ronnie Turner. Moody, and the passenger in her car, were transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Luciano was not injured.
Nothing further is available as Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers continue to investigate.
