Investigation ongoing in Sunday shooting

No arrests have been made in Sunday’s fatal shooting.
The body of a Crenshaw County man was discovered in the 400 block of Petrey Highway early Sunday morning.
The Alabama Department of Public Safety’s State Bureau of Investigations is leading the investigation.
“At the request of Crenshaw County District Attorney Charlotte Tesmer, the State Bureau of Investigations is investigating the shooting death,” said Trooper Kevin Cook in a statement issued Monday.
According to the statement, 45-year-old Corey Woods was shot in his residence, a home he shared with another person.
“Luverne Police Department received a 911 call this morning, Nov. 23. When officers responded to the 400 block of Petrey Highway, they discovered the body of 45-year-old Corey Woods with a fatal gunshot wound,” Cook said.
Once the SBI has completed its investigation, the findings will be turned over to Tesmer. No additional information is available as the investigation is ongoing.
