An arrest has been made after a large amount of fuel was stolen from Ridgeway Transportation of Greenville.
Five days ago, Greenville Police Department investigators were contacted by Ridgeway Transportation in reference to the theft, which took place over a three-month span.
Investigator Sgt. Hadley proceeded to conduct an investigation into the matter, according to a GPD press release.
With the help of Ridgeway’s employees, Gerald Hall was identified as the suspect in the case.
According to GPD Lt. Justin Lovvorn, the thefts occurred between early August and latter part of October of this year.
The total amount of stolen fuel was valued at just over $25,000.
Hall was questioned on Oct. 28, and confessed to all of the thefts once he was confronted with the evidence against him, Lovvorn said.
“Mr. Hall was arrested and placed in the (Butler) county jail for theft of property I,” Lovvorn said.
Lovvorn said the investigation is continuing, adding that the department believes Hall may have sold some of the fuel he stole, to others.
“We are in the process of identifying those people and expect further arrests in this case in the near future,” he said.
Hall is being held on a $20,000 bond.
