The Luverne City Council will meet an hour early Monday afternoon. The 4 p.m. work session at Town Hall was scheduled as a budget workshop.
The budget was introduced at a September meeting but has not yet been passed.
Councilman Jerry Sipper made a motion to hold a budget workshop during the Sept. 22 meeting because he said his constituents had asked questions.
“I want to go through it (the proposed budget) so that I can at least answer a question when someone asks,” he said.
At the meeting, Luverne resident Pat Floyd also questioned expenses listed in the budget. Included on the list were $1,500 engineer services; miscellaneous expenses of $15,000, $12,500 and $2,500; and bank card expenses of more than $4,500.
After Mayor Joe Sport answered nearly all of Floyd’s questions, Floyd asked the council to consider forming a more detailed budget that residents could easily understand.
Sport said he followed the guidelines of the city’s auditors and could not add subcategories.
The regular council meeting will follow Monday’s workshop at 5 p.m., as scheduled.
