Funeral services for Mrs. Ollie H. Watts will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. from Harrison Street Baptist Church. Rev. Anthony Baxter will officiate. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services directing. Mrs. Watts was born on July 26, 1924, to Zan and Georgia Harris. After completing her high school education she attended Lomax Hannon. She was a faithful member of Harrison St. Baptist Church. On Sept. 9, 1947, she married Mr. Herbert Watts Jr., and to this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Watts Jr., and son, Richard Watts. She was a devoted lover of children. She planned and started the first nursery for children at Harrison St. Baptist Church. She was awarded a certificate of appreciation for serving on the Mother’s Board from the Governor in 1997. She retired from the State of Alabama in 1995, after helping countless families with their sick family members for more than 10 years in the field of home health. Mrs. Watts died Sept. 9. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Helen Joyce Brewer, Georgiana; three sons, Ralph Preston (Betty) Watts, Greenville; Michael Don (Marianne) Watts, Bavaria, Germany; and Capt. James Edward (Cheryl) Watts, Suffolk, Va.; sister-in-law, Susie Cooper, Pensacola, Fla.; a special daughter-in-law, Emma Watts, Greenville; a host of loving grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives; and special friends, Gene B. (Dorothy) Marlow, John L. (Mozelle) Peagler, Maggie Champion, Ron (Sherry) Dixon and Elizabeth Mitchell.
