Daisy Lawson Payne

Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy Lawson Payne will be held on  Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m. at Butler Chapel AME Zion Church.Rev. Robert Shuford will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Francis Baptist Church cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services directing the arrangements. Daisy was born on July 15, 1933, to Johnnie and Leila Lawson. She made her transition from this life on July 22. Daisy accepted Christ early in life where she served as a member of St. Francis Missionary Baptist Church. After uniting in marriage to Allen C. Payne, who preceded her in death, she joined the Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. While her health permitted her, she faithfully served in the Cathedral Choir, as a member of the Morning Star Club and a member of Butler Chapel, Class #4. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and Star of Aberilla Chapter, #170. Daisy retired from Boss Manufacturing after 30 years of service. She then served as a loving housewife and mother for her remaining years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Howard. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Gloria Moorer, Greenville, Ala.; son, Allen C. (Onita) Payne, Jr., Racine, Wisc.; two brothers, Robert Matthews, Birmingham, Ala.; Jimmy (Vonnie) Lawson, Greenville, Ala.; Eight grandchildren, Cynthia Andrews, Robert Howard, Jr., Michael Howard and Zenobie C. Payne, all of Greenville, Ala., Angela H. Giles, Montgomery, Ala., Bridget Holmes, Phoenix, Ariz., Rodney Payne, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Regina Payne, Racine, Wisc.; son-in-law, Robert Howard, Sr., Greenville, Ala.; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
