From the national stage to south Alabama, LBW Community College Foundation is bringing Keith Alberstadt to the Dixon Center for the Performing Arts in Andalusia in mid-June.
Alberstadt is a stand-up comic with numerous television, radio, and personal appearances across the nation and will perform at 7 p.m. on June 19, 2014, said LBWCC Foundation President Shannon Jackson.
“We are thrilled to get this caliber of entertainer for our fundraising event this year,” she said.
“Many people will recognize him from appearances on nationally televised programs, such as ‘Late Night with David Letterman’ and Fox News’ ‘Red Eye,’ or they may have heard him on one of several nationally syndicated radio shows, including the ‘Rick and Bubba Show.’”
Alberstadt was featured on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” Country Music Television’s “Funniest Video Countdown” and “Greatest Redneck Moments,” and CNN Headline News’ “Not Just Another Cable News Show.”
He is a contributing writer for “Saturday Night Live’s ‘Weekend Update,’” and previously wrote for “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” He is often heard on the nationally syndicated radio shows “Bob and Tom,” “John Boy and Billy,” and “Rick and Bubba.”
He regularly performs at the Boston Comedy and Film Festival, and entertains U.S. military troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, and around the globe. He was in the Final Four of CMT’s nationwide search for “Next Big Comic,” a finalist in “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up,” and voted “Best of the Fest” at the 2012 Aspen Laff Festival.
“This is sure to be a fun evening and we invite everyone to come out for a night of laughter. While having a good time, those who purchase tickets will also be helping to raise funds for college scholarships,” said Jackson.
LBW Community College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting scholarships and other programs at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College.
Adding another dimension to this year’s fundraising effort is a silent art auction to immediately precede the show.
“We are very grateful for the generosity of local artists donating their art for this auction,” said Jackson. “The artwork will be displayed in the Dixon Theatre lobby and available for written bids at 6 p.m., so plan to arrive early enough to view the art and make a bid before the show.”
Tickets are $25 for general admission, and $50 for a VIP ticket, which includes reserved seating and a pre-event reception at Springdale. Tickets are available from any Foundation board member or at LBW Community College in Andalusia and Opp. For more information, or to order tickets by credit card, call 334-881-2306.
