Butler County Commissioners Monday approved a new county seal.
The seal features the Butler County Courthouse inside a drawing of Butler County. It also features the date the county was established.
Butler County Commission Chairman Frank Hickman said that while there were a number of symbols that could have been used in the seal, the most logical was the county’s courthouse.
“It’s the best symbol we have to represent the entire county,” he said.
In other business:
- The commission acknowledged the hiring of Scott Boutwell as maintenance worker and Randolp Willis as a custodian.
- The commission transferred $5,488 from the excess land sales fund to the general fund.
- The commission declared April 19-26 “Don’t Drop It On Alabama” statewide spring cleanup.
