Think your pound cake is the best around? The Alabama Farmers Federation Women’s Leadership Council says “prove it.”

The council will sponsor the Alabama Heritage Cooking Contest next Thursday at 5:45 p.m., at the Alfa Building in Luverne.

The category is pound cake.

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years old, be an Alfa member and may not be a professional caterer, cook, etc.

First, second and third place winners will be selected, and the first place winner will be eligible to participate in state competition in Montgomery Sept. 4.

Participants are invited to stay for a meal, prepared by the committee, and will have the opportunity to taste submitted dishes.
