A McKenzie man was arrested after authorities say he allegedly ran over a street sign and then continued to plow down other signs.
Edgar DeWhite Shipp, 28, of McKenzie was arrested Sunday by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and charged with criminal mischief, second degree.
“Something like that puts lives in danger,” said Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden. “If someone were to run through where a stop sign should be they could hit another car, or if there’s an ambulance call and they tell the paramedics that they live on this street and there’s no sign there, it could delay response time and cost someone their life.”
Harden said approximately 11 signs were knocked down.
According to arrest records, Shipp was booked into and released from the Butler County Correctional Facility on Sunday.
