A two-year-old child is in critical condition after a vehicle struck her Monday.

According to Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden, the girl ran in front of a vehicle at the Liberty Trailer Park located on Highway 10.

“The child ran up on the blind side of the vehicle, and (the driver) just didn’t see her,” Harden said. “It was a tragic accident.”

The child was transported to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital and was then taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham where she is listed in critical condition.
