A Greenville man has been arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
According to Greenville Police Department Lt. Justin Lovvorn, Cornelius Bradley, 27, was charged with the Class C felony, which carries a sentence of one year to 10 years, after authorities determined he failed to properly supervise two children left in his care.
On Monday officers responded to a call that two children had ingested prescription medication and were in and out of consciousness. The children, both a year old, were transported to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.
“The children had gotten a bottle of blood pressure medicine and ingested anywhere from one to six pills,” Lovvorn said. “We conducted an investigation into how the two children were able to gain access to the prescription pills and examined the house itself to determine what happened. Our investigation revealed a lack of supervision of the two children by the adult who was left to supervise them. It was determined that the lack of supervision was criminal in this case.”
Lovvorn said the children are expected to make a full recovery.
