The Butler County Courthouse and all county offices will remain closed Thursday, Butler County Emergency Management Agency Director Shirley Sandy announced following a Wednesday morning meeting with county leaders.
Sandy also said that all county roads will remain “closed.” County officials closed the roads to all nonessential travel at 12 a.m. Tuesday. The roads have remained closed since.
Butler County was blanketed Tuesday by a wintry mix — a combination of freezing rain and snow — which has made roadways throughout the county dangerous to travel.
Temperatures have remained at or below freezing, which has left many of the roadways in the county impassable due to icing, and forced many businesses to close on Wednesday.
Both the Butler County Schools and Fort Dale Academy closed Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday due to the dangerous travel conditions.
The City of Greenville has not yet announced its plans for Thursday, but is expected to do so later today.
