Brantley officials are warning local residents that some locals had been targeted by con artists claiming to be members of the local law enforcement community.

Brantley Administrator Phillip Moseley told The Journal Monday that they had received reports of a person calling and soliciting money claiming to be on behalf of the Brantley Police Department.

“We are not calling and asking for money,” he said of the Town of Brantley. “We want to make the public aware of the situation and encourage them not to give out their person information such as credit card numbers and banking account information.”

Anyone who has given money to these callers should file a report with the local police department.
