A local hospital nurse was found guilty of stealing narcotics from the hospital and a man was found guilty of sexually abusing his fiancé’s stepdaughter during last week’s jury trials.
Assistant District Attorney Levi Nichols said a Crenshaw County jury found Alisha Armendarez guilty of second-degree theft.
Nichols said Armendarez took the narcotics out of the patient medicine lockbox.
“This sends a strong message to people in the health care profession that acts such as stealing prescription pills will not be tolerated,” Nichols said.
Additionally, in a separate case, Morris Felton was, who was charged with sodomy first degree and sexual abuse of a child under 12 was found guilty.
“The abuses occurred five different times and the jury convicted him on both counts,” Nichols said. “The victim was 8 years old at the time and has a mental disability. This was another very important case.”
Both will be sentenced on Dec. 3.
