Crenshaw Countians have plenty of ways to kick off and celebrate the Christmas season.
The Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in downtown Luverne at 6 p.m., on Dec. 5.
“Singing by all four school choirs will be enjoyed, hot chocolate, a sing-a-long and ornaments hung by kindergarten children,” said Carol Staller of the Chamber. “Come join us.”
Fast-forward two days to the annual Christmas Parade in Luverne, which will begin at 11 a.m., on Dec. 7.
“We hope you are building your float or organizing your parade entry,” Staller said. “Our parade is widely known and enjoyed by all and a wonderful opportunity to showcase your business or organization.”
Stores will also be open during the parade.
“Remember to shop local,” she said.
Pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be available beginning at 9 a.m.
Brantley has also made plans for its Front Porch Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The Brantley United Methodist Church mission team will sponsor the third annual Jingle Bell Trot to kickoff the morning.
The 5K begins at 8 a.m. and the 1 mile fun run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. Cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children.
The Brantley parade will begin at 11 a.m., and festivities will follow, including vendors, singing and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
