A late start didn’t hinder Brantley’s dominance over Talladega County Central Friday night.
Brantley’s Brandon Walker put the Dawgs on the board in the first quarter, but DJ Salter’s PAT was no good, putting BHS up 6-0.
Quarterback Wesley Person Jr. ran the ball in for the Dawgs’ next score with 2:14 left in the first quarter.
Walker’s 2-point conversion attempt was stopped just shy of the goal line, putting BHS up 12-0.
Running back Andrew Parker put up touchdown number three for Brantley and Salter’s PAT was good, giving the Dawgs a 19-0 lead at the break.
Salter scored a touchdown for the home team with 8:35 left in the third, but his PAT was no good.
Kaishun Nichols found the end zone with 5:34 left in the third quarter, but the PAT attempt by Salter was no good, putting the Dawgs up 31-0.
Both teams exchanged errors late in the third.
Walker intercepted a TCCHS pass with 4:32 left in the third and the Tigers recovered a Brantley fumble with 3:30 left in the third.
Person hit Stefan King with 11:46 left in the fourth quarter, extending the Brantley lead to 37.
Willie Daniels ran a long TD run with 8:46 left in the fourth and Jacob Free’s PAT was good, making the final 44-0.
Brantley head coach Ashley Kilcrease said he was proud of his team.
“We came back and played well after a poor performance last week against Elba,” he said. “I’m really proud of them.”
The Bulldogs will play host to St. Lukes next week, and it’s a game Brantley is looking forward to.
“We’ve had a lot of battles with them in baseball and we’ve kind of developed a rivalry,” Kilcrease said.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
