Sen. Bryan Taylor, who currently represents District 30, announced today that he will not seek re-election.
Taylor currently represents portions of Autauga, Butler, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes and Pike Counties.
Taylor was elected in 2010, when he defeated long-term Sen. Wendell Mitchell.
He said the he plans to spend more time with his family, as he and his wife Jessica are expecting a third child.
“Jessica and I were overjoyed to learn several weeks ago that we would be blessed with another child,” he said. “Of course, with two babies under the age of 3 already, we knew we needed to re-evaluate our priorities and started praying about this decision. We believe this decision reflects God’s will for our family right now.”
For 2014, Crenshaw County will move to District 25, where Sen. Dick Brewbaker currently holds the seat.
Brewbaker will be in Crenshaw County on Monday touring the county and speaking with community leaders.
