Brantley defeats Pleasant Home

Brantley declawed the Pleasant Home Eagles Friday night to claim the region championship on homecoming.
Tonight’s victory gave the Bulldogs number 13 in region championship wins and extended their state record. Brantley received the ball on the opening kickoff and had to give up the ball on downs. The Pleasant Home Eagles were unable to move the ball against the Bulldogs’ defense. When BHS got the ball back the quarterback Wesley Person Jr. completed a pass to Kaisaun Nichols. The point after was no good, putting the bulldogs up 6-0 halfway through the first quarter. With 1:47 left in the first, Andrew Parker took a handoff and charged hard to the end zone for a touchdown. Person took it in for the conversion going up 14-0. Ken Owens for Brantley intercepted the a Pleasant Home pass and ran it in for a TD and Doug Salter makes a good PAT with 1:18 remaining in the first quarter. Score was 21-0. Pleasant Home turned the ball over on downs setting up Brantley’s next score. A pass from Person to Nichols was good for the score. Salter’s extra point was good with 11:37 left in the second score 28-0. The bulldogs’ defense shut down the eagles offense once again. Brantley drove the ball down the field and the pass to Owens is good for a TD. With a good PAT the score is 35-0 with 7:34 until halftime.
On the kickoff to the Eagles, Brantley regained possession of the ball and Person took it in for the TD. PAT is good making it 42-0. A Kickoff return went deep into BHS territory and the handoff from Garrett Barton to Austin Herrington is taken in for the Eagles’ first score. The extra point was no good with 5:59 left in the second quarter, with Brantley up 42-6. Brantley charged down the field for another score by Brandon Walker on an 11 yard run and the extra point was good. The first half ended with the score of 49-6. Pleasant Home made the last score of the game, with a final score of 49-12.
