Homecoming was sweet for LHS with a 42-0 victory win over the Calhoun Tigers. The Luverne Tigers got right into the action putting two touchdowns on the scoreboard for a 12-0 lead and with 10:02 to go in the first quarter. Both teams battled back and forth until Jonathan Chambers ran to the end zone for a Luverne touchdown with 2:49 to go in first quarter and conversion was no good. Calhoun put up a good fight but couldn’t stop the pass from Austin Odom to Chambers for TD giving the tigers a 24-0 lead with 6:04 remaining in the first half. Calhoun fumbled the ball and on the next play Luverne’s Odom goes in for touchdown. The PAT was no good making score 30-0 with 4:54 left in second quarter. Calhoun couldn’t get anything going on offense. Luverne’s QB pass was complete to Kevin Womack for the TD making the score 36-0 when the half comes to an end. Calhoun started the third quarter by turning the ball over on downs. The home Tigers drove the ball down the field for a TD by Chambers as the third quarter came to a close at 42-0. The game ended with no other scores made in the fourth. Coach Mike Dubose said, “we played well against Calhoun, they have a scrappy team.” Coach Dewayne Williams, the Calhoun Tigers new interim coach since just taking over the team Friday morning, said, “ I will reorganize and iron out our performance as a team. I am expecting our seniors to step up and be the leaders of the team. “
