BOE OKs hire of Georgiana baseball coach

The Butler County Board of Education approved the hire of five new teachers during a special called meeting Saturday.
Among those hired were Kenya Hamilton, who along with teaching history at Georgiana, will also serve as the school’s baseball coach.
Hamilton will replace David Watts who coached the Panthers’ baseball team for two years.
Watts, who also served as the school’s football coach, resigned in April.
Hamilton will also serve as an assistant coach on new head football coach Ezell Powell’s staff.
The board also approved the hire of Lauren Drapalik, science teacher at Greenville Middle School; Morgan Taylor, teacher at W.O. Parmer Elementary School; Tabitha Newton, teacher at W.O. Parmer Elementary School; and Kortni Cates, teacher at Greenville Elementary School.
The board approved the following transfers: Georgiana School reading specialist LeNicki Moore to the school’s counselor, and Greenville High School history teacher Daniel Ingram to Greenville Middle School.
The board also accepted the resignations of W.O. Parmer Elementary School art teacher Katherine Roberts, W.O. Parmer Elementary School physical education teacher Gabriel West, and Georgiana School custodian Stephen Hester.
