The Greenville Middle School football team hit the gridiron Monday for a 7-on-7 tournament hosted by Trinity Presbyterian School in Montgomery.
The Tigers finished undefeated in pool play before being knocked out of the single-elimination tournament in the second round.
GMS head coach Daniel Ingram said he was pleased with his team’s performance.
“As I have said in the past, 7-on-7 (games) are fun for the boys, but I much prefer real football,” Ingram said. “It was great to get out there and compete against other schools though. We have some players returning from last year and their experience really helped us.”
Ingram praised the play of quarterback Daniel Gaston.
“He had a great day throwing the ball, and running our offense,” the coach said.
Ingram said wide receivers Malik Bunch and Jeremiah Owens also turned in solid performances.
Defensively, Demontrez Bowen and Brian Hill led the Tigers, according to Ingram.
