Residents in the Luverne area rose to the occasion last week and helped the Luverne Post Office have its most successful “Stamp Out Hunger” drive ever.
The Luverne Post Office collected 2,640 pounds of canned goods, which was donated to the Department of Human Resources.
“And that’s just the Luverne-area routes,” said Dawn Arnold. “That doesn’t count what other post offices around the county took in.”
Throughout the program’s 20-year history, more than a billion pounds of food has been donated to food banks and pantries.
