Since 2000, the Butler County Farmers Federation has been awarding scholarships to deserving students.
On Wednesday, the organization recognized its latest crop of recipients at a reception at Cambrian Ridge.
“This year we were able to award seven scholarships,” said Carey Thompson, chairman of the BCFF Scholarship Committee. “Each year we try to award one student from each of the four schools in Butler County with a scholarship, and we’re excited to be able to recognize these students today.”
The following students were chosen for their academic excellence and active participation in school and community: AJ Sanford, McKenzie School; Taylor Merry, Fort Dale Academy; Brittany Blankenship; Greenville High School; Abria Feagin, Georgiana School; Morgan Gibson, Troy University; Andy Burns, Fort Dale Academy; and Brittany Walker, McKenzie School.
According to Thompson, students attending a four-year college or university will receive $1,000, while students attending a two-year college or trade school will receive $500.
Thompson said that in the last 13 years, the BCFF has presented 68 students with scholarships.
