A retirement celebration will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Butler County Courthouse courtroom for Butler County Circuit Clerk Allen Stephenson. Stephenson has served as circuit clerk for nearly two decades. In July of 2011, he announced that he would not seek re-election in order to devote more time to his role as pastor of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Georgiana. Along with the celebration honoring Stephenson’s career, Mattie Gomillion will be sworn in as circuit clerk.
