Gators pull away late against Cougars

The Crenshaw Christian Cougars stayed with Glenwood for three quarters, but the Gators pulled away late in the game for a 55-31 victory.
The Cougars had 291 rushing yards on the night with three touchdowns, led by Chris Wooten, who had 130 yards and one score.
Gavin McKenzie had 69 yards rushing, and Shaun Lewis and Trent McGough accounted for the other two rushing touchdowns.
McGough also had a touchdown through the air, hitting Dalton Weeks for a 17-yard touchdown pass.
Joe “the Toe” Smith also hit a 33-yard field goal in the third quarter for the Cougars.
On the defensive side, Ke’Vontae May and Matthew Luster each had five tackles, and Weeks also made an impact, recording a tackle, causing a fumble and recovering the fumble all in the same play.
The Cougars also blocked a punt in the third quarter.
CCA will travel to Wilcox next week for the opening round of the playoffs.
