Breaking: Flash flood warning upgraded to flood warning
Published 7:42 am Tuesday, September 4, 2012
The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a flood warning for northern Butler County and northern Crenshaw County until 4:30 p.m.
A flood warning means flooding is imminent or occurring. Seek higher ground immediately. Do not drive or walk into areas where water crosses the road.
At 1:26 p.m., a long duration of rainfall has resulted in significant water rises on area creeks and streams.
While the heavy rain is coming to an end, water levels will continue to slowly rise across the warning area as these creeks and streams crest.
This will cause continued flooding of low-lying and poor-drainage areas through the afternoon.
Locations impacted include Rutledge, Petrey, Luverne, 1-65 and AL-10, and Greenville.
