Jerome Antone has announced his intent to seek election as mayor for the City of Georgiana.

This will be Antone’s first time seeking political office.

“First of all, I have passion for kids,” Antone said. “I feel as though young folks are the future. I feel that there is growth in Georgiana and development here. I feel like I am the right candidate for that growth and development.”

Antone said he would not only like to improve the quality of life in Georgiana but to increase economic growth.

“I would like to develop leadership in our youth,” Antone said. “I feel that we have a lot of smart kids and they can use their talent in order to make sure they have a good future and become productive citizens in society. I would like for us to have decision making through collective hands with everyone coming together to make decisions for what we need to do in order for Georgiana to become a great green city.”

The municipal election will be held Aug. 28.
