Little celebrates a century

Merdice Little celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends at a birthday bash on April 14 at his home in Forest Home, Ala.
Little was presented with balloons and enjoyed lunch with his family.
He was born in 1912 in Butler County and is one of 18 children. When he was 21, he married Lora Seale and the couple settled in Forest Home.
Little worked as a self-employed barber at home and at Bob Reynolds Barber Shop in Greenville. He continued self-employment in the logging industry until the early 1970s, and spent more than 20 years working for the Butler County Road Department. Little lived at his residence until he was 97 years old, and then went to live at Georgiana Health and Rehabilitation.
He has five children, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
