If a balanced scoring attack is the key to winning basketball games, Fort Dale Academy is sitting pretty.
The Eagles improved to 4-0 with a 69-36 win against Sparta Academy on Friday night, and they did so with a scoring attack that featured 12 different players scoring two points or more. Nine of those players, led by Wesley Scott’s 10 points, scored at least five points in the win.
“We were balanced offensively and I feel like we have a lot of people that can contribute,” Fort Dale head coach Reggie Mantooth said. “It makes it tough for the other team to key on one person when you have some balance on offense.”
Fort Dale certainly spread its points around on Friday.
Tyler Millo scored 9 points, Dylan Jones and Taylor Windham each scored 7 and Cam Norman, Jack Bates and Ethan Gregory each scored 6 points for the Eagles.
Fort Dale connected on 25-of-42 attempts from the field in the win and was 4-for-10 from behind the arc against the Warriors.
The Eagles also held the Warriors to just 24.1 percent (13-of-54) shooting from the field.
Lady Warriors 51, Lady Eagles 36
A 51-36 loss to Sparta Friday night dropped the Lady Eagles to 1-3.
Mary Sanford Perdue scored 7 point to lead Fort Dale’s scoring attack, while Barrett Leverette, Katie Cox and Hannah Johnson each scored 6 points.
