Montgomery – Gov. Robert Bentley has appointed Shirrell Roberts as the new Alabama Department of Homeland Security Deputy Director.
Roberts’ appointment comes on the heels of John Thomas Jenkins retirement. Jenkins’ last day on the job will be Wednesday.
“J.T. has been a tremendous state employee giving more than 25 years of dedicated service,” said Director Spencer Collier. “Both AL DHS and state government will miss his commitment to citizens of Alabama.”
Roberts has worked for the Alabama Department of Homeland Security for more than seven.
“The promotion of Deputy Director Roberts will ensure that the operations and work of the Alabama Department of Homeland Security continue in an effective and efficient manner that enhances the security of our citizens and community,” Collier said.
