Lt. Justin Lovvorn, of the Greenville Police Department, has been awarded the status of Master Criminal Investigator.

The certification is recognized by the Alabama Peace Officers and Training Commission, which regulates Alabama law enforcement officers and their training. The training, which is sponsored by Auburn University Montgomery and Faulkner University, is only available to experienced investigators that can complete a weeklong training of practical exercises and a final exam.

“It tests the skills that an investigator has learned throughout his career,” Lovvorn said.

The practical exercises ranged from crime scene analysis to detecting deception in an interview.

Lovvorn is the senior commander of investigations for the GPD.
