Circuit Clerk’s office to change hours

Due to budget cuts, the Crenshaw County Circuit Clerk’s office will be changing its daily hours starting on Sept. 1.
The judicial system has seen a number of budget cuts statewide, and that has in turn affected the county offices.
Earlier this week, Gibson issued a letter to the public explaining the situation.
“Pursuant to an administrative order issued by the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, I am authorized to close the Circuit Clerk’s office up to 10 hours per week due to loss in personnel. These loses are a result of drastic cuts in the judicial budget. My office is losing one employee. The responsibilities of this employee will be distributed between Twyla, Sherrie and me.
“Effective September 1, 2011 the Crenshaw County Circuit Clerk’s office will be closed to the public everyday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Also, we will not be available to the public by phone during these hours. We will not be closing and going home. We will be using this time to catch up on the day’s filings.
“A drop slot will be available for filings. Should you have an emergency need, please contact the Sheriff’s Department.
“I ask for your patience and understanding during this time. Twyla, Sherrie and I will do our best to keep the paperwork for the Crenshaw County courts up-to- date. If you have any questions, please call.
Jeannie Gibson
Circuit Clerk”
